20 week ultrasound it’s A….

Well on Friday we had our big ultrasound! J and K flew into town on Wednesday so it was nice spending a bit of time with them! We spent time in a old town st. Charles and then had dinner at our house where we had a buffet of st Louis! We had pork steaks, imos, toasted ravioli, white castles and gooey butter cake! It was a success! My kids thought it was the best dinner ever haha. So on Friday we did the whole ultrasound and baby B really was active but didn’t want to roll over so I’ll have to do another ultrasound at 28 weeks to get a few more pictures of the heart. Everything looked perfect though! Baby B is growing well and is about 12oz I believe they said! So when they finally got to the sex of the baby I for one was shocked 😳! Turns out it’s a BOY!!! now let me explain why I was so surprised. After we did our transfer where they put the baby in the dr said well she’s all in there! I was pretty mad thinking he told me the sex of the baby after it was decided we didn’t want to know! So needless to say this whole time I thought I already knew it was a girl and I just had to keep it a secret! They said it was a boy and I just couldn’t believe it! I’m so very excited for J and K. So now we are already at the half way point so now it gets more exciting each week!!!! Oh and baby B is moving a lot more now and is definitely getting stronger. He really loves waking up at around 4 am to kick and play me not so much. Good thing I like this little guy! I’m glad he’s letting me know he is there even if it is too early. So here is what baby B is up to this week!!!

You’ve got a heavyweight in your belly at 20 weeks pregnant (well, in baby terms, anyway). Your little champ weighs about 10 ounces and has a height, crown to rump, of about six-and-a-half inches. Think small cantaloupe (and probably as sweet too). While your baby is definitely getting bigger, there’s still plenty of growing room in there, which allows him to twist and turn (and allows you to feel his acrobatics!).

Curious about whether that melon-sized belly has a boy or a girl inside? Now’s your chance to take a peek! Though the external genitals in both male and female fetuses still have a way to grow, you’ll be able to find out your baby’s gender via the second trimester ultrasound , usually scheduled for anytime between 18 and 20 weeks. This routine exam gives your practitioner a chance to see how things are going in there (and wow, are they going!). If you’re carrying a girl,  your baby’s uterus is fully formed this week and the vaginal canal is starting its development (which means that in a few decades, you might be a grandma!). Your little girl also has primitive eggs in tiny ovaries now, seven million of them. By birth, that number will be down to two million. If your fetus is a boy, the testicles have begun their descent this week, though they’re still in the abdomen waiting for the scrotum to finish growing so they’ll have a place to go in a few weeks.

( I’m not sure why my daughter looks like this lol)

19 weeks!

Hey guys. It’s been a bit sorry I’m a slacker. Our dr appointment a couple weeks ago went awesome! Baby B was a stinker and we couldn’t find the heart beat as usual. This is also my body’s fault it happens a lot something about the way my uterus sits and the placenta is always up front. So we got an extra ultrasound! I’m very excited that next week baby B’s mommy and daddy get to come for the 20 week ultrasound! I can’t believe it will be the half way point!!! I’m already getting sad. As I always say I’m not sad like I want the baby lol. I’m sad that I won’t be pregnant anymore! I’m crazy and I know it but the last half is my favorite and it goes by so incredibly fast! I’m finally showing enough that people can tell it’s a baby and not just fat woohoo. Also great news I’m still not gaining anything!!! Believe me this is normal for me and baby is just fine! Miss Ellie from my belly, my first surro baby just turned 4 this week!!! I can’t believe it she so pretty and perfect. She has started ballet and is keeping her parents very busy. I’m excited to go visit the girls soon I hope. Obviously after baby B comes! I’m starting to feel tiny movements every once in a while if I’m super still! I can’t wait for the good strong kicks and jabs! I’m really hoping baby B’s mommy and daddy get to come for another visit so that they can feel movements later on! I’m still feeling great. My back does hurt some but that’s normal too. My job doesn’t make that any easier haha. Oh and surprise I’m back to craving ice! It’s by far my favorite pregnancy craving. I think that’s all I have for now. I’ll post my updated belly pic and a pic of how big miss Ellie is! Let’s see what baby B is up to this week!

Six inches long this week and just over a half pound in weight, your baby has gone through a bit of a growth spurt and is now the size of a large mango. What’s more, your little one has a cheesy varnish. Say what? You read that right — a protective substance called vernix caseosa (vernix is the Latin word for “varnish”; caseosa means “cheese”) now covers your fetus’ skin. It’s greasy, white and made up of lanugo (that downy hair), oil from your baby’s glands and dead skin cells. This waxy “cheese” may not sound too appealing, but it’s there for good reason: Vernix protects your baby’s sensitive skin from the surrounding amniotic fluid. Without it, she’d look very wrinkled at birth (sort of what you’d look like if you soaked in a bath for nine months). The vernix sheds as delivery approaches, though some babies — especially those born early — will still be covered with it at birth, so you might get a look at your baby’s first anti-wrinkle cream
